Maintaining printing order issues

KB ARTICLE: KB0027

REQUIRES VERSION: All versions

Occasionally we get reports from customers of files not printing in order, Batch & Print Pro always processes and prints files one at a time in the list order so what should come out on the printer should also be in order, 1 in 1 out policy.
Batch & Print Pro does not multi-task the printing, it is designed to print one at a time mainly because 3rd party associated programs can only handle one print request at a time.

The reason why it may print out of order is because:
a) the files aren't in order in the list
b) the printer sever changes the priorities of the prints so e.g. smallest print first
c) the network is so slow that small prints are transferring/printing before previous larger ones
d) the printer is deciding what to print first

A good check is to pause the spooler queue and check the order in the queue before they print.

A few checks and changes to force the order from Batch & Print Pro:

1) Add a pause between the prints.
Go into options menu-->general setup options and in the 'pause secs - wait for close (required for paintshop pro)' checkbox enter number of seconds value e.g. 2
This will pause 2 seconds between each print to help ensure order.

2) Tell Batch & Print Pro to wait until previous print has gone from spooler queue before printing the next file.
Go into options menu-->general setup options and check 'Wait if printer has an error status (e.g. paper out)' checkbox.
This will actually wait for the print to disappear from the spooler queue before moving onto the next file.
