We know of a few reasons why the print spool size might be much larger than the PDF source size:-

1. If you are using a non Postscript printer driver this can cause the file size to be over size, Postscript is native to Acrobat so simply installing the Postscript driver for your printer will reduce file size and in-turn improve spooling performance, see your printer vendor website for the latest Postscript drivers.

2. PDF's can contain imbedded font information or use the fonts available on the system - this also applies to your printer, if the fonts are not available then they will be sent to your printer.
a) To reduce the size of the source PDF try not to use imbedded fonts, you can check this by using the Text Object tool in Acrobat and right mouse attributes on the text.
b) Try to use common fonts that are available on your printer, then the spooling size will be reduced.
c) install more fonts on your printer.

3. This is related to manual Acrobat printing and Batch & Print Pro PDF Addon+ only, when sending print as image this can cause spool size to be bloated, uncheck that checkbox.
